Injured at Work? We Help You Heal—and Get Back to Life
Work injuries can derail your routine, your income, and your peace of mind. At Midwest Pain & Wellness, we focus on opioid-free pain relief using evidence-based, interventional care and coordinated rehabilitation—so you can return to time with friends and family and be productive at work again.
How We Help
1) Assess your injury thoroughly.
We take a detailed history, perform a focused exam, and review prior imaging or order new studies as needed. Our double-board-certified pain specialist leads your evaluation and explains next steps in clear, practical terms.
2) Make tailored recommendations.
You’ll receive a written care plan designed to relieve pain and restore function. Plans often include a combination of therapeutic exercise or physical therapy, activity modification, and targeted, minimally invasive options when appropriate.
3) Render treatment as needed.
We offer image-guided injections and other interventional procedures as part of a collaborative, non-opioid approach. We also coordinate closely with your other providers (primary care, surgeons, PT/OT, chiropractic) to keep everyone aligned on your progress.

Lumbar Decompression FAQ's
What is minimally invasive lumbar decompression
A fluoroscopy-guided procedure that decompresses the spinal canal by removing small portions of hypertrophied ligamentum flavum (and a sliver of lamina) through a tiny incision—no implant or fusion.
How effective is it?
Randomized data (MiDAS ENCORE; MOTION) show clinically meaningful improvements in disability, pain, and walking capacity in appropriately selected patients, with durable results at 2–3 years and no instability observed at 2 years in ENCORE.
How is it different from laminectomy or interspinous spacers?
mild®/PILD removes only small amounts of tissue to relieve central canal narrowing from ligament thickening; it’s less invasive and tissue-sparing, performed percutaneously without implants, while laminectomy or spacer procedures are larger interventions intended for different scenarios.
What are the risks and downtime?
Complications are uncommon but can include infection, bleeding, or dural tear. Most patients go home the same day and start a progressive walking plan; your team will review activity guidelines.
Is it covered by insurance?
Medicare covers PILD under CED when performed in a CMS-approved study/registry; other insurers have varying policies. Our staff will verify benefits and handle prior authorization.
